Lifeline Hunter Central Coast is hyp’s 2018 Community Partner. The charity gives hope to people in our community who are struggling or in crisis. Lifeline listens with compassion and without judgement.

hyp is collaborating with Lifeline to help it in its mission to eliminate youth suicide.  hyp will donate $1 from every ticket sold to hyp events plus facilitate additional donations from members.

Lifeline makes a great contribution to the lives of young people in our community through its

  • 13 11 14 crisis support line
  • face to face counselling
  • suicide prevention training for businesses and community members
  • community suicide prevention and crisis prevention services
  • bereavement support groups.

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged between 15 and 44. More than 3,000 Australian die by suicide each year, double the national road toll. More than 65,000 suicide attempts are made each year.

Lifeline receives only some Government funding to do its valuable work. It relies on business and community support for more than 50% of its funding. It also raises funds through its local Lifeline shops that sell quality new and preloved fashion, furniture and homeware items. Through its professional counsellors, Lifeline also provides “Employee Assistance Program” type services to businesses on a fee for service basis.

Lifeline also relies on the wonderful contribution of hundreds of local people who volunteer in its shops, with fundraising and providing counselling and support. Without this support it could not deliver its services.

If you or someone you know is in crisis you can always call Lifeline 24 hrs on 13 11 14.
