Our 2019 Charity Partner

We’ve partnered with the Mark Hughes Foundation to raise much-needed awareness and funds for brain cancer research.

The Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) is a charity formed in Newcastle by Mark and Kirralee Hughes following Mark’s diagnosis with Brain Cancer in 2014. The Mark Hughes Foundation’s mission is to raise much-needed funds for research, to create awareness and support brain cancer patients and their families.

The Foundation was created when they realised how underfunded brain cancer was in Australia in comparison to other cancers. The lack of funding meant very little research into treatments or cures for brain cancer and, as a result, not much has changed in the shocking brain cancer mortality rates over the past 30 years.

To date the Foundation has raised over $10 million, funded a Brain Cancer Biobank, Travel Grants Program, 10 research projects including 2 Fellowships and a Brain Cancer Care Coordinator.

“Our Foundation is a very small organisation that runs mostly on the generosity of our supporters and some community grants which allows us to keep the running costs to a bare minimum so that one day, maybe in my lifetime, together, we will find a cure for brain cancer,” Mark said.

“Join our tribe… we believe anything is possible!”

$1 from each ticket sold from the hyp events this year will go straight back to the Mark Hughes Foundation to raise much-needed funds for brain cancer research.

Our annual hyp trivia event will focus on creating awareness for brain cancer and the Mark Hughes Foundation and we will let you know how you can help. Stay tuned, as the details for our trivia event will be released soon.

You can help out now by visiting and by making a donation. Keep your eye out for the release of the MHF beanies in the next few months.
