Jesse Mulligan


After being in the Real Estate industry for 5 years, Jesse decided to open the doors of Mulligan Property Group. Being aged in his mid-twenties, Jesse has faced countless obstacles in the business world and still does today. The MPG company philosophy adopts two words which are Determination and Resolution. When asked why, Jesse believes that is what best decides his personality.

The idea behind Mulligan Property Group is the expression of Jesse Mulligan’s dream to create and build a boutique real estate agency with an attentive and courageous culture. MPG is now evolving into a full-service firm focusing on residential sales, property management and project development work for many clients in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter Valley regions. The complete network of Mulligan Property Group’s business holds a strong value system of result, accountability and service.

  1. How do you manage your work/life balance?

Time management is essential for any individual. It can be easily overlooked if your work becomes busy and many people find themselves in a situation where they are working long hours without reward. I have found procedure, organisation and staff delegation within a team environment has worked for me. Each night I set daily goals and plan for the next day ahead. You have to be prepared to handle sudden situations that may present themselves during the day – that’s why it’s important to maintain great relationships with your team who can offer assistance to the greater balance and maximisation of your day. Planning is everything both in your personal and work life.

  1. Where do you see your industry heading and how have you positioned yourself to benefit from these changes?

The Property industry is forever changing. We are seeing clients from Sydney, Central Coast and the Hunter Valley regions investing in the Newcastle and Western Newcastle suburbs. At the moment, we are not seeing any signs of this changing and look forward to continuing to embrace what is ahead. We are in the process of implementing key management systems to best look after our clients with the changes in Real Estate in the hope for future repeat business and referrals. At the end of the day business is about people and building relationships.

  1. What motivates and drives you?

I feel personal motivation comes from both your work and home environment. Motivation is key to any business however you need to make sure while you are trying to continually stay motivated, your team is as well. What drives me to succeed is the expansion of this enterprise from the base line. I have found beginning an independent office instead of a national franchise is more personal to me and particularly thrives upon my motivation to succeed.

  1. What characteristics do you think an individual needs to be successful in your profession?

Alongside being hardworking and motivated, to be successful in the Property Industry I believe it is important to possess outstanding communication skills, knowledge of all aspects of the real estate industry and an entrepreneurial mindset.  A dedicated individual is going to be very client driven as well as making sure the balance between work and a healthy lifestyle is the most important part in the succession in this profession.

  1. Where would you like to be in 10 years?

Ideally, in 10 years I would like to be in a position to expand the enterprise in franchise offices. The MPG team have forecast goals set in place from as short as 1 year to a 20 year succession plan.
