Why do you want to continue in an executive director position of hyp?Being a leader of HYP represents a way to become further involved and contribute to the business community. I am relatively new to Newcastle, having moved in 2018, on the upper end of the young scale (33), and also work in an office by myself (start-up life), so for personal reasons it represents a way to establish relationships, contribute to a team, and support the community that provides our livelihoods.

What skills and attributes will you bring to the hyp?

I draw experience from a number of positions, primarily working in financial services as an insurance broker. Our role is largely focused on relationships, service, and understanding our client’s businesses, so whilst the job and products are technical, there is a very human element to it.

I’ve learnt this year that running your own business requires you to wear a few different hats, and have an appreciation for stepping back where something is better outsourced or managed by someone else in the team. I’m happy to meet or contact any third parties in the interest of the organisation, and love the social life, so partnerships or events is where I think my contribution would be most valuable.

Why do you want to become a leader of hyp? Having been appointed as Vice President at the beginning of 2020 and experiencing the role over the last 12 months I would like to reapply for the position as I feel as though I have more to give to hyp in an executive capacity. This year has been extremely challenging but we are back better than ever and I truly believe that 2021 is going to be hyp’s best year yet, and I would love nothing more than to play a key role in orchestrating this.

Why do you want to become a leader of hyp?

HYP plays such an integral role in fertilising the industry leaders of tomorrow right here in Newcastle. As a HYP leader, I hope to gain new friends, expand my network and encourage undergraduate students to get involved in the HYP community during their studies to learn skills.

Why do you want to become a leader of hyp? I would like to bring my attributes and skills listed below but more so on developing myself, networking and learning and growing myself as a human in a professional environment from fellow peers within our region.

I would like to learn from fellow like minded individuals on how journey, development and future educational could help me.

What skills and attributes will you bring to hyp? I believe I can add value in the dynamics of leadership, entrepreneurial mindset and skill, negotiating, conversing and liaise with potential partners prior, during and after events.

My energetic, team member ability falls under a philosophy that I came up with ‘a hand without fingers can’t clench and grab an item’. Meaning a palm is an ‘organization’ and without the fingers ‘the members’ the organization can’t prosper. I believe my knowledge in starting 3 companies which specialize in the facilitation of providing machinery to government organizations for the last 15 years and becoming a leader in the industry I believe it’s a strong value.
