How do you manage the work/life balance?

I believe it’s integrated. Work is a part of life and I’m privileged and lucky enough to enjoy it. Getting here was a process and that involves making sure that I’m focusing my energy on projects that align with my values and how I want to live my life.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

If it’s something tangible outside of getting my basic needs met, definitely my smartphone.

What characteristics do you think an individual needs to be successful in your profession (or in general)?

My perception of a successful individual would be resilient, creative, lives true to themselves, and explores problems to solve.

What motivates and drives you?

So I see this as a 2 part question as there are pain and pleasure motivators.

Also pretty timely! I definitely felt the pain motivation and drivers over the last few weeks which is the negative impact and suffering we have caused to our ecosystem including the suffering to other living beings. Pleasure motivation is of course the flip side of that which is the endless possibilities of what we can do as humans to repair and improve with our ecosystem as we automate more repeatable tasks and expand for a better world for generations!

What advice would you give to someone five years younger than you, in any industry, to help them achieve success?

Define what success means to you and create the life you want based out of that. Discover what you get excited about and chase that. Be a creative problem explorer.
