Promotions Director, Southern Cross AustereoLinkedIn Profile
I am the Promotions Director at Southern Cross Austereo (Hit106.9 and Triple M) where I have worked for just over 6 years. After completing high school I moved to London for 2 years to see the world, whilst there I began a Bachelor of Business in Convention and Event Management and completed this when I returned to Australia. As part of this degree I had to complete an internship which I landed at Southern Cross Austereo (NXFM and KOFM at the time). I was lucky enough to get full-time work from this and after spending some time in Sydney at 2DayFM, I was able to move back home to Newcastle as the Promotions Director across Triple M and Hit106.9. I further upskilled a couple of years ago by completing a Master of Marketing. Outside of work I love catching up with friends, going to the beach and I don’t mind a wine and a cheese platter on the weekend!
1. What three words best describe you?
Positive, Social, Organised (All apply in and outside of work)
2. What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
Don Beppinos, and my puppy Chilli!
3. What motivates and drives you?
I love taking an idea and turn it into something massive and exciting to make people happy. Seeing people’s reactions and feeling accomplished at the end of a big promotion or event keeps me going!
4. What characteristics do you think an individual needs to be successful in your profession (or in general)?
I think highly of a good work ethic and the ability to admit to mistakes and take feedback on board, it’s unproductive to get defensive and take things personally when it comes to work. Leave negative attitudes at the door too – positivity is infectious!
5. What advice would you give to someone five years younger than you, in any industry, to help them achieve success?
Knowledge is power, know your stuff! – Details matter – Volunteer in your industry to gain experience – Find something that makes you happy… it may not always be the work but it could be the lifestyle your job gives you, the people at your workplace, etc. If you’re not feeling happy – time for a change!
