Big bangs and hitting the ground running, that’s what you do at the start of the year right?
Wrong – that is so last year! It’s all about headphones and roaming on the spot. Enter VRXP, bringing high-end virtual reality to Watt St and our 2017 Launch. In true HYP style we are taking you to new places to explore new concepts and meet new people.
This year’s launch won’t be a panel or keynote, rather a fast paced Pecha Kucha; 20 slides @ 20 seconds each. You’ll learn what has impacted the prominent professionals joining us and how their industry impacts you!
Greg McKenna – economist
Greg McKenna is one of Australia’s leading economists. His site Business Insider Australia is Australia’s number 1 business website. At just 18, Greg started his career in the Westpac dealing room and, well, what hasn’t he done since? Sales, trading, portfolio management and market strategy, to name just a few…
Greg will bring his no-nonsense knowledge and economic insight to our launch event that will provide something meaningful to apply to your personal life and your industry.
Anna Farthing – Founding Director and Head Troublemaker at Doughheads
Anna Farthing, Founding Director and Head Troublemaker at Doughheads, turned a love of baking into a tribe of 60,000 doughnut lovers and a business employing a team of 20. Her creative persuasions quickly turned strategic as the business took off and she found herself having to think big picture about the direction of the company. Contributing much of her success to a few key mentors throughout her career, Anna is now driven to sharing her experiences with others to help empower those like her to launch their own venture.
Rebecca Wilson – Marketing and Communications Manager, Newcastle Airport
Rebecca’s professional life spans almost two decades. During this time she’s worked for Sparke Helmore Lawyers, Newcastle University Sport, and for the past 10 years has worked at Newcastle Airport where she currently holds the position of Marketing and Communication Manager.
In addition to her day job, Rebecca has worked as a part-time TAFE teacher for the past four years, teaching on the Cert IV and Diploma of Marketing and Cert IV Leadership and Management programs.
No stranger to giving back, Rebecca is a past Vice President of the Newcastle & Hunter Junior Chamber (now HYP), and was Chair for three years for Hunter Medical Research Institute’s PULSE Committee, raising funds for early career medical researchers.
She has been named a finalist at the University of Newcastle Leadership Awards, and has been presented Tourism Hunter’s Young Achiever of the Year and the Hunter Business Chamber’s Young Achiever of the Year awards.
